The Department of Applied Chemistry is growing as a center of excellence. The Department has a team of faculty members graduated from various premier Institute of higher learning like IITK, AMU, ISM and PU.The laboratories are equipped with sophisticated analytical Instruments. The Department at present offers two common courses to all engineering disciplines and also selected elective courses in the higher semesters.

The research activities were initiated since its inception. Three research projects sponsored by MHRD and AICTE on themes such as Distribution of Heavy Metal Pollutants in Aquatic Environment of Punjab, Assessment and Control of Lead Pollution due to vehicular emission in Punjab and Biodegradation of tannery waste have been completed so far. The faculty members are actively engaged in research guidance and consultancy work. The Department has the distinction of producing its first PhD in March 2003.
